Betty S. Walter, age 74, of Richmond, died Sunday morning (August 9, 2009) at her residence. She was born in Richmond on March 3, 1935 to Arthur and Mary Maines Bowmer. She was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School in Washington, Indiana and had lived here most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a former member and past president of American Legion Post 315 Auxiliary. Her husband, Palmer Walter, died on June 22, 1998. Survivors include her son - Terry (Darlene) Walter of Richmond; daughters - Tanya (John) Martin of Texas, Mary (Mike) Durham of Centerville, Gretchen Walter of Richmond; half brother - Mark (Brenda) Bowmer of Richmnd; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A son, Kevin Walter, is also deceased. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday (August 12, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Keith Vincent of Fountain City Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Tuesday (August 11, 2009) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
