Clarence E. Davis, age 84, formerly of Richmond, died Wednesday evening (December 24, 2008) at the Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born in Union County, Indiana on June 7, 1924 to Blanchard and Pearl Cromwell Davis and had lived in this area most of his life before moving to the Westfield, Indiana area 3 years ago. He was a 1942 graduate of Kitchel High School and served in the US Army from February 1943 to December 1945 where he was wounded twice during battle. He was a barber for 39 years having owned and operated Davis Barber Shop and then Clear Creek Barber Shop. He attended First Christian Church, was a member of American Legion Post 65 and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1108. Clarence was active with the 90th Infantry Division Association and was a past state president of the Master Barbers Association. He also served the local Master Barbers Association as secretary/treasurer for many years. He was an avid bowler and bowled in the Church League for over 50 years. He also found great enjoyment in photography. Survivors include his wife of 61 years - Annas Davis; son - Joel (Melissa) Davis of Westfield, Indiana; daughter - Carol (Bruce) Hansen of Westfield, Indiana; sister - Juanita Jordan of Liberty, Indiana; grandsons - Stephen Davis and Kent Olsen; granddaughter - Haley Olsen; nieces and nephews. A son and a sister are also deceased. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday (December 29, 2008) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Mark Wesler will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday (December 29, 2008) from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
