Esther Elizabeth DeBus, age 98, formerly of Richmond, died Friday (August 19, 2005) in West View Manor Nursing Home in Wooster, Ohio. She was born in Richmond on April 6, 1907 to James L. and Mary Frances Mitchell DeBus and had lived here all of her life until moving to Wooster about 9 years ago. She attended the Saint Louis Conservatory of Music, Earlham College and received a degree from Cincinnati College of Music. She was well known in Richmond music circles, having taught piano to hundreds of students from the time she was 18 years old until her retirement at age 89. She was an accomplished organist and for many years sang with the Richmond Symphony Choir. She was a member of the National Piano Guild and was a charter member of the former Daughters of Isabella, Little Flower Circle #350 and of Saint Mary Guild. Miss DeBus was a member of Saint Mary Church in Wooster and Saint Mary Church in Richmond where she attended until 1996 and occasionally served as organist

A prayer service will be held at 9:30 am on Monday (August 22, 2005) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Mary Church (Richmond). Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (August 21, 2005) from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
