Obituary

Jeffrey Scott Chamness, age 68, died Sunday June 26, 2022 with his family present at Reid Hospital Inpatient Hospice Care. Born September 1, 1953 in Reid Memorial Hospital to Duke and Jacquie Chamness. Jeff lived in the Richmond area most of his life. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1972. During his years at RHS Jeff served as the varsity basketball manager under Dick Baumgartner. Upon completion of high school, Jeff worked for True Value Hardware in the Phoenix, Arizona area for a decade and then returned to Richmond. He then worked for Kruse Hardware and Reid Hospital in Purchasing. Jeff enjoyed watching and participating in golf in his adult years. He loved making model airplanes and stained-glass images.

Survivors include his brother Greg (Victoria) Chamness of Richmond; sister Debra (Mick) Harris of Richmond; sister-in-law Tammy Chamness of Summerville, SC; nieces Toni (Bucky) Chamness-Jobe and son Cash of Summerville, SC, Teri (Mike) Silky and children Michael and Madeline of Summerville, SC and Kate (Laura) Harris-Ferree and daughter Elijah Grace of Evanston, IL; nephew Blake (Melissa) Chamness of Springport, IN and Chris (Cassie) Harris of Coarsegold, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tim Chamness; grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves behind a special friend Linda R. and his canine pals Rudy and Augie.

Arrangements are being handled by Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday July 2, 2022. Following the memorial, light refreshments will be provided in the church's reception hall. Memorial contributions can be made to Help the Animals of Richmond or The American Diabetes Association.
