Obituary

Jerry R. Geier, age 84, of Richmond, died Monday (August 16, 2004) at Golden Rule - Beverly Healthcare. He was born in Richmond on February 22, 1920 to Charles and Augusta Buche Geier and had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Morton High School and retired in 1987 as Vice President of Harrington Hoch Insurance where he had worked for 35 years. He was active in local politics and was elected and served as a Democratic city councilman from 1968 to 1975 under Mayor Byron Klute. He also served as president of the council. He was Democrat city chairman for Mayor Frank Waltermann's second campaign in 1987 and he served as chairman of the Richmond Sanitary District Board from 1984-1991. He was a member of Holy Family Church and was a past president of the Westside Splash Club. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He married his sweetheart, Roselyn Neff Geier on November 6, 1948 and was by her side on November 7, 2002 when she left this world.

A prayer service will be held at 9:30 am on Friday (August 20, 2004) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday (August 19, 2004) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N. Meridian St. Ste B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46209-7109.
