Obituary

Lola C. Clarke, age 106, of Richmond, recognized as Wayne County's oldest living citizen in October 2011, died Friday morning (January 20, 2012) at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule. She was born in Connersville on October 27, 1905 to Charles W. and Annabelle Beelor Chomel and had lived in this area all of her life. She had worked in the Saint Mary's School cafeteria and had also worked in the Reid Hospital pharmacy from which she retired after about fifteen years of service. Because of her long association with the hospital, she was chosen as one of the people to help unveil the cornerstone during the new Reid Hospital cornerstone dedication. She was a member of Saint Mary's Guild and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of Holy Family Church. Her husband, Patrick J. Clarke, died October 5, 1962. Survivors include her son - Tom (Karen) Clarke of Richmond; daughter - Sandy (John) Augustin-Dehner of Richmond; sister - Ann Bogue of Nashville, Tennessee, brother - Francis Chomel of Connersville; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Dale, Robert, Thomas and Donald Chomel, and a sister, Mary Macke, are also deceased Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (January 24, 2012) in Holy Family Church. Father Todd Riebe will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery.
