Michael Reid Gardner, age 68, of Richmond, died Thursday (March 10, 2011) at Golden Living Center Oakridge. He was born in Richmond on July 31, 1942 to Reid and Alice Phenis Gardner and had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Boston High School and was a 27 year employee of NATCO. He had also worked for Earlham College. Mike was a former member of the Boston Volunteer Fire Department and had been an active Civil Defense volunteer. Suvivors include his wife of 47 years - Janet Gardner; children - Michael (Debbie) Gardner of Richmond, Randy (Jennifer) Gardner of Greens Fork, Kristy (Marshall) Nelson of Centerville; sister - Sharon Burkhart of Richmond; half-brother - Chuck Toney of Richmond; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, nieces and nephews. A brother, Dave Gardner, is also deceased. Public visitation will be on Monday (March 14, 2011) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Riggle -Waltermann Mortuary. Private services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday (March 15, 2011) at the funeral home. Rev. Carol Duffield will officiate.
