Myron Higgins, age 89, of Centerville died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday October 25, 2024, at Reid Hospital. He was born in Centerville, Indiana on May 9, 1935, to Fred and Alice Wissler Higgins and had lived in the area most of his life. Myron graduated from Centerville High School in 1953 then served his country honorably in the US Army from 1956-1960. After his discharge from the Army, he met his future wife Marjorie Davis Higgins whom he married on August 6, 1962, at Centerville Christian Church. Myron retired from the US Postal Service. He was a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge and an avid bowler, being inducted into the Wayne County Hall of Fame in 1994. He enjoyed watching and supporting his Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Hoosiers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years Marjorie of Centerville; son Michael Higgins of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Ryan (Andria) Higgins of Knoxville, TN and Christopher (Jill) Higgins of Winchester, IN; great grandchildren Colter and Adlee; sister-in-law Martha Pence; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alice Higgins; sister Freda Shiverdecker and daughter in law Leeann Higgins.
Services for Myron will be held at 1pm on Friday November 1, 2024, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will follow in Jacksonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday October 31, 2024, at the funeral home.
