Rodney W. Coates, age 72, of Richmond, died Saturday morning (August 28, 2010) at Rose Gate Village. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 17, 1938 to Jesse and Edna Wells Coates and had lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and had served in the United States Navy. He had worked as a truck driver and was a member of VFW Post 1108 and the Marine Corp League. Survivors include his children - Brian (Dawn) Coates of Richmond, Sherry (Rick) Love of Richmond and Ryan Coates of Richmond; brothers - Bill Coates of Richmond and Steve Coates of Richmond; 6 grandchildren - Stephani Love, Jessica Love, Destiny Coates, Diara Coates, Braydon Coates, Baylee Coates, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, a brother is also deceased. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday (August 30, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Eldon Harzman will officiate. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (August 30, 2010) from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
