Ruth A. Heis, age 99, 0f Cambridge City, died Wednesday (May 9, 2018) at Reid Health. She was born in Richmond on February 28, 1919 to Otto and Elizabeth Rering Weaver and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cambridge City Presbyterian Church. She was an active participant at the Golay Senior Center and was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge in Richmond. In her earlier years in Richmond she was a member of the former Second Presbyterian Church where she played the organ and piano. She had worked at the former International Harvester and had volunteered as a Cub Scout leader. In 1957 she and her husband purchased a farm and moved to the Cambridge City area where she also became active with the American Legion in Dublin.
Survivors include her sons David Heis of Richmond and Chuck Heis of Cambridge City; grandchildren Michael Heis and Heidi "Taz" Heis. Her husband, Leonard Heis, died May 29, 2003. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons Paul Heis on June 17, 2017 and John Heis on November 11, 2017.
