Ruth Sharp, age 86, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning (March 24, 2009) at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Deep Run, North Carolina on February 22, 1923 to Jonnie James and Viola McLawhorn Blizzard and had lived in this area since 1956. She was raised in the Freewill Baptist Church and was a 1944 graduate of Atlantic Christian (Barton) College. Ruth had taught school and she was a homemaker She was an active 53 year member of First Christian Church where she was a member and past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was an accomplished bridge player and participated in a number of bridge clubs. She enjoyed gardening and being with family and friends. Her husband , Earl J. Sharp, whom she married on June 4, 1946, died on May 10, 2006. Survivors include her daughter - Sue Ellen (Warren) Reisner of Richmond; son - Philip Earl (Beth) Sharp of Davie, Florida; brother - Paul T. (Louise) Blizzard of New Bern, North Carolina; grandchildren - Alan (Denise) Reisner; Steven Reisner, Stephanie Sharp, Julia Sharp, Scott Sharp; great grandson - Noah Reisner; nieces and nephews Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday (March 28, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Royce Willerton will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (March 27, 2009) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
