Savonna Van Winkle Mathews, age 53 of Centerville, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025 following years of health struggles. Savonna was born in Richmond to Diana Higgins Prifogle, deceased, and Lanny Van Winkle. She graduated from Union County High School and worked as a bartender at various establishments in the Richmond area where she made amazing cocktails and kept the patrons in line.
Savonna was known to speak her mind…even when you might have wished she would not. She was a fierce protector of those she loved, especially her daughter, Kaelynn, who was, without a doubt, her favorite person and the reason she fought so hard for so long to stay in this world. She was determined to see her Kae Kae grow up and learn to walk her own path. She can rest easy knowing that mission is accomplished.
Savonna was preceded in death by her Mother and grandparents. She is survived by her daughter, Kaelynn of Centerville, her Father, Lanny of Liberty, her brother, Travis Van Winkle (Julie) of Brownsburg, her sister, Kristy Curtis, of Centerville, her brother, Joe Miller (Lexus) of Richmond, her nieces and nephews, Shelby, Grant, Sydney, Blake, Porter, John, and Scarlett as well as aunts, uncle and numerous cousins.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 3PM to 7PM on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 13, 2025, at noon at Centerville Christian Church, with Pastor Wes Sewell presiding. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
