Troy Howard Humphries, age 92, of Richmond, IN passed away Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Arbor Trace Nursing Home. He was born in Vinemont, Alabama on October 15, 1924 to Albert and Bertha Humphries. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action while deployed in France during February 1945. Troy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for several years. He retired from Johns Manville in 1987 and was a member of the "Quarter Century Club", he then worked for US Bank for 18 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Humphries, children Roger Howard (Joan) Humphries, Sheila Smith and Susan Humphries all of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Kristin Austerman, Scott Humphries, Sheena Chowning; great grandchildren Conner Austerman, Noah Humphries, Analiese Humphries, Kaiyah Humphries, Mason Chowning and Calen Chowning. Troy is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bertha Humphries.
Services for Troy will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday August 14, 2017 at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery. Pastor Curt Nies will officiate. Friends may call on Monday August 14, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
