Vernon E. Horton, age 74, of Richmond, died Saturday (May Holl5, 2007) at the Dayton Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.� He was born on November 29, 1932 in Shoopman, Kentucky to Elbert and Francis Stevens Horton.� He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954.� He moved to Richmond in 1965 and worked as a self-employed contractor working in roofing, siding and home remodeling.

Survivors include his long time companion - Catherine Hoel of Richmond;� sons - Daniel Wayne Horton of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Robert Michael Horton of Latania, Florida; daughter - Rebecca Lynn Horton of Covington, Kentucky;� step-son - Leonord Hoel of Richmond;� brothers - Gary Horton of Moscow, Ohio, Jimmie Horton of Boston, Florida, Jackie Horton of Lewisburg, Ohio and Raymond Horton of Troy, Ohio;� sisters - Mary M. Rinckhoff of Sardina, Ohio and Lois Gunter of Seffner, Florida;� grandchildren Holly Marie Hoel and Kelly Lauren Hoel both of Edmonton, Oklahoma, Kyle Horton, Emily Horton and Laura Horton all of Dry Ridge, Kentucky and Cristina Horton formerly of Richmond.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Eugene Horton, is also deceased.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday (May 10, 2007) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.� Rev. Raymond Horton will officiate.� Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.� Friends may call on Wednesday (May 9, 2007) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.�
