Alice J. Barker, age 76, of Richmond, died Friday evening (July 24, 2009) at Arbor Trace. She was born in Richmond on September 5, 1932 to Harry S. and Gladys Smith Nicholson and had lived here all of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Richmond High School and had worked at Perfect Circle, American Water Company, Reid Hospital and Knollenberg's Department Store. She was an active 50 year member of First Christian Church. Her husband, Howard Barker, died April 12, 2007. Survivors include two daughters - Rebecca Black of Greenfield, Indiana and Julie Bell of Saint Petersburg, Florida; sisters - Juanita Jennings of Richmond, Opal Gorman of California; grandchildren - Christopher Black and Amanda Kandle; nieces and nephews Services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday (July 28, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Amanda Hines will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (July 27, 2009) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
