Obituary

Alta B. Johnson, age 95, of Richmond, died Saturday morning (May 10, 2008) at Friends Fellowship Community.� She was born in New Castle, Indiana on January 13, 1913 to Cassius and Opal Clevenger Fouts and had lived in this area most of her life.� She was a graduate of Morton High School and of Ball State University and had taught elementary school in Economy and Williamsburg and at Westview School in Richmond..� Alta's special loves were her family and teaching children to read.� She also volunteered, after retirement, in teaching adults how to read.� She enjoyed painting, sewing and playing bridge and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.� Her husband, Robert T. Johnson, died on October 12, 1985.�Survivors include her son Douglas B. (Brenda) Oler of Richmond; granddaughter - Amy Holthouse and grandson Christopher Oler;� great grandchildren Kate Holthouse and John Holthouse;� sisters - Eloise Gray of California, Martha Cordell of Bloomington, Indiana, Dorothea Pardo of Arizona;� brothers - Joe Fouts of Richmond, Wayne Fouts of Xenia, Ohio and Wilbur Fouts of Arizona;� nieces and nephews.� �A brother, Charles Fouts, and two sisters, Grace Bowman and Maurine Evans, are also deceased.�
Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday (May 13, 2008) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.� Rev. Phillip Dorrell will officiate.� Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.� Friends may call on Tuesday (May 13, 2008) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the funeral home.� Memorial contributions may be made to RHS Alumni Scholarship Fund, 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374 or to Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main St., Richmond, IN 47374.� www.riggle-waltermann.com
