Obituary

With hearts full of joyful memories, we celebrate the life of Amy Lawson, who departed from this world on October 8, 2026, at the age of 55. Born in Connersville, Indiana, to James Carl Ross on September 30, 1971, she later gained a faithful, loving mother, Lottie Ross, on May 25, 1974. Amy graduated from Richmond High School in 1989 and went on to touch many lives through her dedication and compassion in her work at Kemper Cabinet factory and Reid Health. Amy was a vibrant member of her community and an active parishioner at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Her passion for helping others was evident not only in her professional life but also in her commitment to animal welfare. Amy’s love for dogs, particularly her work with the Animal Care Alliance and her special bond with hospice dogs, defined her generous spirit and brought joy to countless lives. The family would like to send a special “Thank you” to the staff at IU Health Simon Cancer Center and Reid Health for all the special care they gave to Amy during her health journey.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 33 years Robert Lawson; wonderful daughter and caregiver Bobbi; devoted son and partner in crime James (Emily Durham) Lawson; siblings Scott (Judy) Lee, Todd (Michelle) Lee, Angie (Rob) Stull, Casey (Steve) Toschlog, Troy (Vicky) Wells; Aunts and Uncles Naomi Calvert, Gene (Alma Ruth) Ross, Genny (Roger) Cox, Lyn (Charlie) Wade, Joanne Feltner-Rice; Nieces and Nephews Chuckie and Gracie Lee, Jesse (Paige) Stull, Hannah (Spencer) Densmore, Adam, Jacob and Joshua Toschlog, Jasmine, Lilly and Violet Wells; Sister-in-law Tracey (Kenny) Follis; Brother-in-law Brian (Atoka) Lawson, Brad (Alicia Matthews) Lawson; Father-in-law Bob Lawson.

Per her requests, she didn’t want any services, but we would like to leave you with this touching Facebook post of Amy from April 30, 2022. It sums up what a beautiful heart Amy had for her God, Family and Friends. Be blessed by knowing that she loved us all.

I wanted to share something that has been in my heart for a few days. I saw a post the other day that weighed heavy on my heart. It was a obituary that said that this person lost their battle with cancer and it made me sad so I prayed and god put these words in my heart. I have terminal cancer in my liver. I lost my tongue due to a tumor and they cut my throat from ear to ear, cut my leg from hip to knee. I’ve had a trache and feeding tube lost both breasts and so many infections but I got through all of it because of my relationship with god and when I was at my weakest, he carried me and gave me the strength and determination to get up and fight everyday. I don’t feel like cancer will ever win because even when i pass away, I have still won the battle and war because I will be in heaven with my family, god and my dogs. I will have long blond beautiful hair and a voice of an Angel. God said that I will have my tongue back and have a beautiful feast prepared for me. So in my eyes that’s winning. Cancer will eventually take my life but it saved my soul because it gave me a beautiful relationship with god and, my beautiful family and awesome friends. Everyone has went above and beyond for me and I love you all so much. I try to see the beauty in everything and it has really changed my life for the better. Please know my dear friends that no matter what, you can face any battle and beat it! No matter what you got this. When you feel like things can’t get worse then pray because god will carry you through any battle or any storm. Love you all!
