Barbara E. Carr, age 86, of Richmond, died Friday morning (December 19, 2008) at Pinehurst Village. She was born in Richmond on June 15, 1922 to Ore and Lola Lawder Stamback and had lived here most of her life. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio. She was a US Army veteran of World War II where she served in the Army Nurse Corps in Europe. Barbara had worked for the Alcoa Credit Union and was a retired nurse from Richmond State Hospital. She was a long-time member of Epsilon Chapter of Omega Phi Tau Sorority. Survivors include her son - Tim (Joyce) Carr of Richmond; daughters - Nancy (Gary) Randall of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Susan (Mark) Ciancone of Bloomington, Indiana; brother - John (Dorothy) Stamback of New Paris, Ohio; granddaughters - Sarah Randall and Laura Ciancone; nieces and cousins Her first husband, John F. "Jack" Carr, died December 26, 1960. A brother, Harold Stamback and nephew, Mark Stamback, are also deceased. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday (December 22, 2008) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Chaplain Kevin Holley will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday (December 22, 2008) from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1029 South 14th Street.
