Barbara M. Copp, age 89, formerly of Richmond, died Thursday (June 24, 2010) at The Hearth at Stones Crossing in Greenwood, Indiana. She was born in Richmond on September 1, 1920 to Walter and Edna Canan Schuerman. She was a graduate of Morton High School and had live here all of her life before moving to the Indianapolis area two years ago. Barbara had worked as a bookkeeper for Busch's Fabrics and had been an active member of First English Lutheran Church. She was a founding member of the board of directors for Achieva Resources (formerly Green Acres) and a former member and past president of the Petal and Stem Garden Club. She was a member of the former Richmond Women's Club and was active in various art activities in this area. She was a dedicated participant in the Study Buddy Program at Charles School for several years. Her husband of sixty years, Robert Copp, whom she married on August 7, 1949, died in October 9, 2009. Survivors include her sons - Robert (Pam) Copp of Noblesville and Jim (Sue) Copp of Greenwood; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A brother, Richard Schuerman, is also deceased. Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday (June 29, 2010) in First English Lutheran Church (2727 East Main Street). Pastor Brian Derrer will officiate. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (June 29, 2010) from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm at the church.
