Barbara Ellen Eadler, age 82, formerly of Richmond, died suddenly on Saturday (October 22, 2011) in Temple, Texas. She was born in Richmond on November 9, 1928 to Carl and Johanna Meier and was a 1946 graduate of Richmond High School. Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Good Samaritan School of Nursing in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was very proud to be a Registered Nurse and still carried an active license at the time of her death. Her nursing career took her to many places within the VA Hospital system including Dayton, Ohio, Fort Lyon, Colorado, Temple, Texas, Grand Junction, Colorado and Kerrville, Texas. She finished her career with the VA in Houston, Texas and continued to reside there until her death. Soon after her retirement, she began working for the Texas Department of Corrections and retired from there after ten years of employment. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband - Harry H. Eadler (1996); son - Patrick Eadler (1994); step-son - Steven B. Eadler (1998). She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son - David of Houston, Texas; daughter - Mary of Belton, Texas; step-son - John of Cambridge City; Indiana; her loving brother - Pat Meier of Lititz, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law - Marjorie Meier of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Evelyn Alexander of Richmond; Indiana; son-in-law - Peter Steers of Belton, Texas; daughter-in-law - Brenda Eadler of Longview, Texas; many nieces and nephews. Barbara's pride and joy were her seven grandchildren - Nichole Janner, Ericka Wood, Elizabeth Eadler, Sarah Steers, Gwynnie Steers, Maggie Steers, Wesley Steers; two great grandchildren - Emily and Cody Janner. She attended their numerous birthday parties and special celebrations where she enjoyed telling stories about her childhood and giving them all the sweets they could eat. She will be terribly missed by all. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (October 29, 2011) in Saint Mary Church (Richmond, Indiana). Father Gerald Okeke will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (October 28, 2011) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
