Barbara Ann Handy Cosgrove, age 63, of Richmond, died of a long term illness on Sunday evening (September 4, 2011) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Cool Ridge, West Virginia on September 22, 1947 to Robert and Willie Mac Handy. She moved to Lynn, Indiana at a very young age and then came to Richmond, Indiana where she lived the rest of her life. Survivors include one daughter - Vicky Cox (Darrin Cox) of Richmond; one sister - Judy Stewart of Richmond; one brother - Roy Handy of Lynn; 3 grandchildren - Amanda Cox, Darrin Cox (Lacey), Douglas Cox; four great grandchildren; step-sons - Kenneth Hampton (Mahalia), Taza Boston, Barry Hampton; two step-daughters - Djuana Thompson (Terry), Dorothy Frazier; ten step-grandchildren, special friends - Richard and Joannie Brawley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters - Kay Cosgrove and Mary Lou Handy; brothers - Billy Handy and John Paul Handy; her companion - Ernest "Blue" Hampton; step-son - Charles Hampton and step-grandson - Djmarko Hampton Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (September 9, 2011) in Fountain City Wesleyan Church (5600 US 27 North). Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday (September 8, 2011) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
