Barbara E. Norris, age 85, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Reid Hospital after an extended illness. She was born to Francis and Ellen Maurer on December 13, 1937, in Richmond, Indiana.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Dale. Together they shared 68 years of unwavering dedication and commitment to one another. Their devoted children include Beth (Bob) Brittenham, Sherri Spotts, Mike (Kim) Norris and Kim Chaplin; grandchildren Michelle (Bill) Baldwin, Susan (Mike) Burkepile, Chris (Lydia) Spotts, Matt Norris, Patrick Norris, and Nick Chaplin; great grandchildren Kait Morgan, Brendon Baldwin, Abby Burkepile, Eli Burkepile, Kathleen Spotts, Zaiah Burkepile, Leesy Burkepile and Daniel Spotts; great-great grandson Grant Ballin; and loving sister Jane Marlatt. Barbara is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, son-in-law David Spotts and grandson Randy Spotts in addition to several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Barbara certainly had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her beautiful flowers and watching and feeding the birds. She loved playing the piano, listening to classical music, watching IU basketball, the Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Reds with Dale. She was a great cook and loved to also bake for her family. In addition she was in a euchre club for many years with special friends. She cherished her many life-long friends and cousins that she remained in close contact with over the years.

Visitation for Barbara will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday April 10, 2023, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, 32 South 11th Street in Richmond with the service following at 12pm at the Mortuary. Deacon Jim Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery in Richmond.
