Barbara Nugent, 81, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on December 19, 1943, to Bradford and Pearl Collins and grew up in Richmond, where she formed the strong family bonds and lifelong friendships that defined her life.
On April 20, 1963, Barbara married the love of her life, Clinton Nugent. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home filled with love, devotion, and faith. Their 62 years of marriage were a true testament to their commitment to one another.
Barbara was a proud mother to two children, Terri (Mike) Widau of Richmond and Joe (Julie) Nugent of Columbus, Indiana. She was a cherished grandmother to Kristen (Blaine) Allen, Brice (Jacoba Clouse) Widau, and Nathan and Katie Nugent, and a loving great-grandmother to Noah, Lily, and Ezra Allen, and Zeke Widau. Family was at the center of her world, and she found immense joy in every moment spent with them.
Barbara is survived by her siblings John (Darlene) Collins, Georgia McGovern, and Butch (Linda) Collins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clinton; her granddaughter, Lindsay Nugent; and her sisters, Lois Davis and Lorena Whalen.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church 655 Salisbury Rd S, Richmond, Indiana. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.
