Bernard "Pete" Rourke, age 89, of Richmond, died Sunday (August 4, 2013) at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule. He was born in Paris, Kentucky on March 10, 1924 to John P. and Nora Breen Rourke and had lived here most of his life. He was a retired employee of General Telephone and Electronic (GTE) and had owned and operated Ber-Con Enterprises. He was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served with the 101st Airborne. He was a member of Holy Family Church and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the FOP. Survivors include his wife, Louise Rourke; children, Kathleen Herath of Florida, Nancy (Mark) Smith of Arizona, Paula (Robert) Smith of Richmond, Annette (Marty) Hurst of Florida, Patrick (Lisa) Rourke of Richmond and David (Susan) Rourke of Hartford City; stepchildren, Sharon Euton of Lancaster, Ohio, Gary Lett of Lynn, Indiana, Deborah Hughes of Richmond and Nancy Handley of Richmond; 28 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. His first wife, Constance Rourke, died October 25, 1979. In addition to his parents, 4 brothers, John, James, Joseph and Paul Rourke, a sister, Mary Newton and a step-son, Robert Lett, are also deceased. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (August 10, 2013) in Saint Andrew Church (235 South 5th Street). Entombment will be in Earlham Mausoleum where military services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday (August 9, 2013) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
