Obituary

Bessie Mae Brock, widow of Rev. Forrest L. Brock, passed away on Wednesday (July 7, 2004) at Friends Fellowship Community after an extended illness.
Born in Ames, Nebraska on June 22, 1917 to Walter D. and Emma Knight Myers; Mrs. Brock attended Midland College where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She taught grade school in several Nebraska communities before entering Drake University where she began work on her Master's degree in religious education. While there, she received a call to Pasadena Central Christian Church as Minister of Christian Education and served in that capacity from 1946-1949. During that time she completed her degree and was ordained as a minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In 1950 she became the State Director of Christian Education for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for the state of Indiana, a position she held until she married. Rev. Forrest L. Brock. They moved to Richmond, Indiana in 1957 to serve the First Christian Church as pastor and wife. During their 17 years of service to the Church, Mrs. Brock worked as the Area District Children's Worker for the Disciple Church.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen J. Brock and his wife Cynthia of Woodstock, Georgia, three grandchildren, David Lindley Brock of Baltimore, Maryland, Mrs. Kathleen Brock Clegg of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mrs. Jennifer Taylor Gibson of Huber Heights, Ohio, and two great grandchildren, Aidan Jae-Lee Clegg and Ryan Jason Gibson.
A service of worship in honor of her life will be held at the First Christian Church, the date will be announced at a later time by Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. A. private committal service will be held for the family at Earlham Cemetery. www.riggle-waltermann.com
