Betty L. Edwards, age 70, of Richmond, died Tuesday morning (December 13, 2011) at her residence. She was born in Richmond on October 6, 1941 to Elmer and Ethel Eugenia Goodwin Pierce, was raised on a dairy farm near Boston and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Boston High School and had worked at Morrison-Reeves Library and as an assistant activities director at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule. She was a member of Saint Mary Church. Her husband, Joseph Edwards, died March 28, 1994. Survivors include her daughters - Brenda Sue Turner, Marjorie Lynn Edwards, Donna Jean Murray, Carol Ann (James) Morris all of Richmond; brothers - Ralph Pierce, Don Pierce, Charles Pierce; sister - Ruth Ann Hargett; grandchildren - Angela (Justin) Sanders, Brian Turner, Stacy Edwards, Jenna Edwards, Brandon Murray, Jessica Morris, Christopher Morris; great grandchildren - Alyssa Sanders, Isaiah Bolton; nieces and nephews. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
