Obituary

Blanche Jean Liebert-Murphy, age 87,� native of Richmond, Indiana for 85 years, more recently of Calhoun, Georgia for two years, died at the home of her daughter Carole on Monday (September 4, 2006) from cancer.� She was born June 2, 1919 in Richmond to Stanley and Goldie Drew-Liebert.� Blanche was a homemaker and mother of four..� She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Murphy, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad freight conductor, on October 30, 2002.



Survivors include - daughter Betty Murphy of Lynn, Indiana; son - Steven F. (Viola) Murphy of Richmond; daughter - Carole (Jim) Huddleston of Calhoun, Georgia;� brothers Chuck Liebert and Earl (Joan) Liebert.� Grandchildren - Renee Defibaugh, Stephanie McNew, Jenniffer Blackburn, William Blackburn, Jimmy Murphy and Matthew Murphy; one great grandchild, nieces, nephews and three sisters-in-law. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Murphy, and a brother, Stanley (Helen) Liebert.



Blanche enjoyed her church activities, writing editorials to the Palladium-Item with life-inspired messages for its readers, visiting nursing home patients, getting her hair done and eating out.� She prided herself on her colorful jars of home-canned vegetables and fruits all lined up on shelves.� Blanche was a one-time member of The Open Door Church in Richmond recently changing her affiliation to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Calhoun, Georgia.



Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday (September 8, 2006) in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1001 West Main Street, in Richmond.� Pastor Kruger will officiate.� Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.� Friends may call on Friday (September 8, 2006) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church.�� A reception will be held in the church immediately following the services at the cemetery.� Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 689, Columbus, Indiana� 47202.� www.riggle-waltermann.com
