Carl R. Gay, age 75, of Richmond, died Monday (January 2, 2012) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Greene County, North Carolina on January 25, 1936 to Benjamin H. and Annie I. Rouse Gay and had lived here since 1962. He was a retired 20 year employee of Manville Corporation. His wife, Martha Grady Gay, died October 8, 2008. Survivors include his children - Carl Gay of Richmond, Ben (Debbie) Gay of Richmond, Deborah (William) Johnson of Florida, Wanda (Scott) Berry of Warren, Indiana, Nikki (Doug) Auger of Richmond; foster children - Maria Clifford of Muncie, Billy Livesay of Richmond; brothers - Robert E., Rocky and Benny Gay all of Goldsboro, NC; sisters - Margaret Smith and Barbara Anne Goodwin both of Goldsboro, NC; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
