It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl and Laura Mullen. On February 15, 2024, the world lost two beloved souls as Carl passed away at the age of 62 and Laura at the age of 48.
Born on June 28, 1961, Carl's legacy will forever linger in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with this remarkable man.
Devoted to his family, Carl was a loving husband to Laura and a devoted father to his daughter, Gysla. His passion for baseball, particularly the Cincinnati Reds, was unmatched, and meeting his idol, Pete Rose, brought him immense joy. Carl's dedication to his hobbies extended to his collection of Reds and Coca Cola memorabilia, which showcased his enthusiasm and love for the sport and brand.
Known for his hardworking nature and compassionate spirit, Carl was always willing to lend a helping hand. He exemplified generosity, always ready to offer support, even if it meant giving the shirt off his back to someone in need. When Laura fell ill, he stepped into the role of "super dad," showcasing unwavering strength and love during challenging times.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Gysla (Nathan) Helms; siblings Gary (Kim) Mullen, Brenda (Jon) Henderson, Carol (Steve) Purvis and Shirley Nickel. He is preceded in death by his wife Laura Pugh Mullen; father Clarence Mullen and mother Lydia Marcum Mullen.
Laura was born on March 19, 1975, in Richmond, IN, and was known for her love of jewelry, decorative dishes, and Japanese art.
She found joy in the art of crocheting, spending hours creating beautiful blankets for her loved ones. Laura's caring and compassionate nature extended to her family, and her greatest joy in life was being a loving mother to her daughter, Gysla. She shared many cherished moments with her spouse, Carl Mullen, and their bond was a true testament to dedication and love.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Gysla (Nathan) Helms; mother Carolyn Pugh Pollard; siblings Amy Pugh, Steven Pugh and Jarrett Pollard. She is preceded in death by husband Carl Mullen; father Earnest Pugh and stepfather Gary Pollard.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
