Catherine "Katy" Brumfield, age 98, of Richmond died Sunday March 29, 2026, at Rosebud Village. She was born in Huntington, Indiana on February 19, 1928, to Ralph Morris and Helen Bartlett Morris. Catherine obtained her bachelor's degree from Butler university and spent 29 years as a teacher in the Richmond School system. After her retirement she continued her passion for teaching but doing so as a volunteer for another 15 years. She was a lifelong, faithful member of First Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son David Brumfield; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Brumfield; sister Dorothy Morris Monroe; brother in law Pat Monroe; sister in law Lorna Johnson and brother in law Philip Brumfield.
Services will be held at 1pm on Monday April 6, 2026, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary with a visitation from 12pm-1pm. Rev. Cindy Ploughe will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
