Catherine Jane Grimes, age 79, of Lynn, Indiana, passed away on September 23, 2026. Born on March 11, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, Catherine was the daughter of Carl Sr. and Iva Lindsey. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.

Catherine proudly served for over 20 years at the Genesis Women's Shelter with the YWCA, advocating for women and youth in need. Raised in a military family as an "Army brat", her father served for 20 years in the US Army, including WWII. She lived in two foreign countries and multiple U.S. states. Catherine enjoyed reading, she loved her cats, playing Bingo and Yahtzee with her neighbors and dearly loved her family. She will be missed by many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children James (Karen) Grimes, Betty Grimes, Robert (Gayle) Grimes, Alice Lawson, Sue Schultz and Wayne Mull; sisters Lois Martin, Karen Lindsey and Janice (Tom) Jervis. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Grimes, and her beloved children: William Grimes, Laura Scheer, Peggy Mull, and Mary Wooten, along with her parents and her brother, Carl Lindsey Jr.

Visitation will be held at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary on Wednesday September 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery.
