Darrell L. Rentfrow, age 80, passed away on Thursday (July 14th 2016) at Reid Hospital. He was born on February 20th 1936 to Elmer & Gladys Rentfrow in Richmond and had lived here all of his life. He had worked as a drafting engineer at Dana, Mosey, and back at Dana before retiring. He was also a licensed electrician and did tool and dye work. Darrell later became a woodworker, and was known for giving his picnic table salt and pepper shakers to those in the community. He also enjoyed mowing, and he never knew a stranger. He had volunteered with Junior Achievement, and also was a volunteer swim instructor at the YWCA for handicap children and Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Marjorie Rentfrow; children Pam (Tim) Long, Debbie (Jack) Evans, and Gladys (Gabby) Martin; brothers Dale (Joy) Rentfrow of Maryland, Ron Rentfrow of California; sister Shirley Cannon of Florida; grandchildren Debbie (Chad) Dalbey, Tim (Tasha) Long, Tina Markey, Mark (Haley) Evans, Jackie Evans, Tiffany Evans, Darrell Martin, Jon (Marissa) Martin, Diana Martin, Ronnie Martin, Jesse Long and Mathew Evans; great grandchildren Daniel, Jaxin, Avery, Grant, Emma, Colten, Haven, Makaleigh, Bishop, Taygan, Sabrina, Dakota and Jackson; a special cousin Charles Lindamood; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Marilyn Sanderson.
Services for Darrell will be held on Wednesday (July 20th 2016) at 12 p.m. in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Pastors Kenny Riden and John Maples will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville. Friends may call on Tuesday (July 19th 2016) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
