David L. Erbse, age 85, of Richmond, died Monday morning (December 28, 2009) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on August 27, 1924 to Clarence and Ruth Edwards Erbs and had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II where he received military honors while serving in the European Theater. In his early years he worked for EG Hill Company. David and his father Clarence owned and operated C-R Funriture for many years. He was a charter member of Holy Family Church and remained an active member. He was an avid gardener and loved his home. David enjoyed his family and was very fond of his German Shepherd, "Gus". Survivors include his wife of 62 years - Marilyn Erbse, his children - Candace (Jack) Harlan of Richmond, Steve (Debbie) Erbse of Richmond, Jeff Erbse of California, Tony (Shirley Enders) Erbse of Richmond, Annette (Andy) Krofta of Richmond, John (Patty) Erbse of Richmond; grandchildren - Brent Harlan, Sarah Toby, Chris Erbse, Jason Erbse, Jenny Carr, Joshua Erbse, Brandon Erbse, Brandon Krofta, Ryan Krofta, Adam Erbse; nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a sister, Mary Jane Erbs, is also deceased A prayer service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday (December 31, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Wednesday (December 30, 2009) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
