David Lee Hartman, age 86, of Boston passed away Friday (August 18, 2017) at his home. He was born in Boston on March 30, 1931 to Oscar and Louise Austerman Hartman and had lived in the area his whole life. After graduating from Boston High School in 1949 he began farming, served honorably in the US Army and was a member of the Wayne County Soil and Water Board. He was a 10 year member of the Wayne County 4-H and was a member of the 4-H association. He was married to the love of his life Catherine M. Bushelman Hartman for 59 years until her passing in December 2014.
Left to cherish his memory are children Cindy Hartman, Sandy Frank, Randy (Gena) Hartman, David (Tammy) Hartman and Pam (Jeff) Smedley; grandchildren Betsy, Cathy and John Frank, Megan (Sam) Wilson, Lee and Brad Hartman, Kari (Jason) Ruf, Melissa and Matthew Hartman, Drew (Christie) Smedley and Claire Smedley; great grandchildren Lillian, Lucas, Nicholas and Madeleine Wilson, Emma and Grant Ruf; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind a special family friend Paul Buchmeier. David is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Louise Hartman, wife of 59 years Catherine M. Hartman; daughter Debra Hartman and brother Mark Hartman.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday (August 22, 2017) at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Liberty, IN. Father Dustin Boehm will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (August 21, 2017) from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary.
