David Heis, age 79 of Connersville died peacefully on Thursday April 16, 2026 at Caroleton Healthcare Center in Connersville, IN. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 3, 1946 to Leonard Heis and Ruth Weaver Heis. David graduated from Lincoln High School and lived in the Cambridge City area until marrying his wife Margaret. He then moved to Richmond where he lived the majority of his life. David served in the US Army, after his honorable discharge he spent several more years in the Army reserves.

David was a dedicated maintenance worker in the wire manufacturing industry, spending many years at Belden Wire. While he may not have held a formal degree, his hands-on skills and resourcefulness made him invaluable on the job. An eternal tinkerer, David had a knack for starting projects, often leaving them half-finished but always with a smile and a story to tell. Beyond work, David had a passion for travel, especially road trips with family. His adventurous spirit brought joy and laughter to every journey, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. He was particularly fond of his grandkids, who always seemed to have him wrapped around their little fingers.

Left to cherish his memory are daughter Heidi "Taz" Devereaux-Heis and son Michael (Shannon) Heis; grandchildren Zachary and Elizabeth Heis; brother Charles “Chuck” Heis and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, spouse Margaret Heis, daughter-in-law Desiree Devereaux-Heis and brothers John Heis and Paul Heis.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. No public services are scheduled at this time.
