Deborah Shain, loving mother and proud grandmother, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 7, 2024 while surrounded by her family.

Deborah was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 9, 1949 to Ralph and Mary Jo Crist. Deborah grew up on the family farm with her two brothers, David and Dick, in Centerville, Indiana where she graduated high school in 1967.

She was a devout Christian, often listening to Christian music and believed in helping those in need. Deborah loved riding through the countryside and to the family farm. Another passion was cooking and baking family recipes, which she passed down to the family proudly knowing her legacy would continue for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, Ralph and Mary Jo Crist, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Crist and her husband William Harris. She is survived by her brother, Dick Crist (Sandy) of Muncie, Indiana; children Kimberly Smith of Richmond, Indiana and Matthew Barrows (Lauren) of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren Emily Snowden, Hailey Moore (Antonio), Kaylee Smith and Adonis Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins. GG/Grandma Debbie loved to laugh and her 7 great-grandchildren always warmed her heart and made her smile when she got to see and hold them.

Although Deborah will be greatly missed, we know she is in a better place. We thank all who treated and helped her over the years, as well as her continued support to her family.

In honor of her dearest friend, Diane Angilella, the family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Birthright (303 South 6th St. Richmond, Indiana 47374).

Services for Deborah will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday September 12, 2024 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will immediately follow in Elkhorn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-1 prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
