June 8, 2009 Donald G. Leavell Gayle Donald "Don" Leavell, age 75, of Richmond, died Saturday afternoon (June 6, 2009) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Richmond on April 7, 1934 to Micajah and Alberta Saunders Leavell. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and had lived in San Diego, California and in Englewood, Colorado before moving back here in 2005. He was a sales representative and was a veteran of the US Army where he served with the Airborne Rangers. His wife, Izola "Cookie" Leavell, died on October 4, 2004. Survivors include his daughter - Turhania (Rodney) Fitts of Indianapolis; sons - Craig (Julie) Leavell of Cambridge City and Adrian Leavell of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his uncle - Harry Leavell of Richmond; 6 grandchildren; cousins. Services will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday (June 12, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Mary Jane Modlin will officiate. Burial will be later in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (June 12, 2009) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
