Obituary

Edna Mildred Smith, age 85, passed away on Saturday (January 10, 2015) at Golden Living Center Golden Rule. She was born on October 26, 1929 in Union County, Indiana to William and Dorothy Washburn and had lived in this area most of her life. Mildred was known for her homemade candies, which her church auctioned off during the holidays. She was also an avid pet lover, and was a very generous and kind person. Mildred and her late husband Ralph had won several awards for their quilt making. Survivors include nieces Linda (Don) Simkin of Richmond and Carole (John) Seffrin of Atlanta, GA; cousins Charles Pence, Martha Ball, and Delores McNew; other nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years Ralph Smith, sister Maxine Isley, brothers Clifford Washburn and Burnett Washburn; and her beloved dogs Casey and Peaches. Services for Mildred will be held on Wednesday (January 14, 2015) at 1 p.m. in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Jim Slaven will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
