Elizabeth "Elly" Catherine Doherty died on Friday (May 18, 2012) in Richmond, Indiana. She was born in Sassenheim, Holland, The Netherlands on March 25, 1926. During World War II she and her family were part of the Dutch Resistance Movement. After the war, Elly traveled around the United States working with her father in his bulb import/export business. In 1947 while staying with family friends in Peoria, Illinois, she met Henry "Ray" Doherty. Married the following year, they lived and raised their family in Richmond, Indiana. Elly is survived by her children: Mike (Sandy) Doherty, Patricia Doherty, Mary Ellen (Raul) Perez, Hank (Dwan) Doherty, and Therese (John) Miller, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday (May 23, 2012) at 10:00 a.m.. Burial to follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (May 22, 2012) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
