Ellen Mae Harris, age 89, of Richmond passed away on Saturday (June 19, 2010). She was born May 20, 1921, the daughter of Leland and Thelma Zuttermeister Shafer who preceded her in death. She married Paul "Bud" Harris in 1943 and was happily married to him until his death in 1973. She is survived by her children - Paula (Ernie) Frady of Richmond, David (Becky) Harris of Richmond and Dr. Rebecca Nickoli of Fishers. Ellen greatly loved her grandchildren - Dale Nickoli, Ryan Nickoli, Tony Marshall, Jessica Marshall, Paul Harris and Christina Harris. She also treasured her great grandchildren - Kirsten Nickoli, Alex Nickoli, Payton Nickoli and Kaitlyn Nickoli. She also leaves behind a special niece, Marilyn Crouse, and a very special friend, Kathryn Sykes. Mrs Harris retired in 1978 from her position as administrative assistant at Teamsters Local #135. She also spent many hours as a volunteer at Reid Hospital. She was a longtime and founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church and for many years she was active in organizations associated with the church, especially The Daughters of Isabella. She resided in Richmond all of her life and most recently ( 3 years plus) at Forest Park Health Campus where she made many new friends and greatly enjoyed her years there. The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Forest Park for their loving attention to her needs. Ellen was blessed with life-long friendships with "the girls", a group of women she met at International Harvester during World War II. They played cards, enjoyed trips and shared each other's joys and sorrows for over 60 years. She later added another group of friends, "The Dirty Dozen", with whom she enjoyed an association during her later life. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Wednesday (June 23, 2010) in Holy Family Church. Father Todd Riebe will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (June 22, 2010) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
