Obituary

Eloise Demaris (Adkins) Staley, age 92, went peacefully to heaven on February 12, 2012. She was born on May 2, 1919 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Boyd Franklin Adkins and Euna (Gilkerson) Adkins. On September 2, 1939 Eloise married Donald (Don) Perry Staley and in 1942 they moved to Indiana, first living on a farm near Blountsville before moving in 1952 to the Silver Dollar Farm north of Losantville. Eloise was a homemaker, Postmistress at Modoc, IN and retired from the Parker Banking Company at Parker City, IN. During the nearly 40 years she lived in Randolph County, she faithfully attended Union Chapel Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and active in the Ladies Aid. After retiring in 1991, she moved to Richmond and attended First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Staley in 1973, a stillborn son in 1940, her parents, a brother, H.H. (Jack) Adkins of Kansas City, MO in 1983, sisters Helen Ronk of Mobile, AL in 1998 and Billie Bellomy of Kenova, W. Va in 2002. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law - Mary and Jerry Gordon of Wiggins, MS, Betty and George Clark of Granite Bay, CA, Linda and Scott Porter of Richmond, IN; four granddaughters - Kim Gordon of Grand Junction, CO, Holly Forrest of Richmond, IN, Tracy (husband Scott) Talley of Vancleave, MS and Rebecca (husband Ryan) Cate of Richmond, IN. Additionally, four great grandsons - Brandon Talley of Parachute, CO, Kevin and Garrett Talley of Starkville, MS and Ryder Lee Cate of Richmond, IN. She is also survived by a sister, Thomassine (Tommie) Johnson of Rocky Mt., NC, a brother, James Adkins of Kenova, W.Va., numerous nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Penny and Earl Schenck. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (February 18, 2012) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. James Spon will officiate. Private graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Losantville. Friends may call on Saturday (February 18, 2012) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
