Ema Lou (Treffinger) Porter went peacefully to heaven on August 3, 2013. She was born in Richmond, Indiana on February 28, 1921 to Edward and Vessanna Treffinger and was a lifelong resident of Richmond. She graduated from Morton High School in 1939 and attended nursing school in Cincinnati, Ohio. On April 25, 1943, she married J. Lawrence Porter. She was a homemaker and interior designer who owned and operated Colonial Village in downtown Richmond in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and also a member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship; and motivate them to achieve their highest aspirations. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law J. Scott and Linda Porter and Steven and Sally Porter all of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Edward Yaryan, and a sister, Betty. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday (August 14, 2013) at 4:00 p.m., Rev. David Layman presiding.
