Evelyn J. Phenis, age 78, of Richmond, died Saturday evening (October 27, 2012) at Ambassador Healthcare. She was born in Richmond on June 12, 1934 to Preston and Elizabeth Weyl Thomas and had lived here all of her life. She was a graduate of Whitewater High School and had attended Indiana University East. She had worked at Reid Hospital and retired as office manager of LaForsch Orthopedic. Her husband, Evan "Bud" Phenis, died in 2003. Survivors include her son - Stuart (Rhonda Tompkins) Phenis of Richmond; daughter - Beth (David Shearer) Williams of Richmond; sister - Betty Morrison of Richmond; grandchildren - Jennifer (Keith Lehman) Fitzwater, Heather (Gary Maiden) Williams, Travis (Megan) Williams; 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, Jerry Thomas, is also deceased. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (October 31, 2012) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. David Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
