Florence Eileen Hawisher, age 85, of Centerville, died Monday afternoon (June 8, 2009) at Reid Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1923 in Liberty, Indiana to Martin and Cora Leab Pentecost. Florence graduated from Centerville High School in 1941. She worked as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio during World War II. She lived in Centerville for fifty years and worked as a secretary until the age of 75 at various jobs, finally retiring from Gear Works and the Richmond State Hospital. She was an active member of Faith United Lutheran Church and was an active volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels, the Centerville Senior Center and Reid Hospital. She is survived by her son - Michael Hawisher of New Paris, Ohio; daughters - Kathy (Dale) Morrow of Shelbyville, Indiana, Julie (Darrell) Stover of Englewood, Ohio; two grandchildren - Jennifer (Jeff) Burke of Indianapolis, Brad (Angel) Morrow of Louisville, Kentucky; four great granddaughters - Caitlyn and Emily Burke and Carsyn and Sydney Morrow; nieces, nephews and several dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers - Lester and Eugene Pentecost; sisters - Vera Coy, Vada Himelick and Audrey Matix. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nursing staff at Reid Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother. Graveside services and burial will be at 11:30 am Thursday (June 11, 2009) in College Corner Cemetery in College Corner, Indiana. Pastor Jerald Mielke will officiate.
