Florence M. Talbot, age 86, of Richmond, died Thursday (July 14, 2005) at her home. She was born in Manhattan, Kansas on August 14, 1918, the daughter of Edgar and Eva Barnes Hammett, she was a graduate of Kansas State College and had taught home economics in Horton, Kansas and in Springfield, Ohio. Florence retired in 1983 after being a family partner and operator of Melody Skateland, which was built in 1950, and then The Skate, which was built in 1980. She was a former 50 year member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Florence was a life member of The Girl Scouts of America and served Treaty Line Council of Girl Scouts for over 35 years in many capacities. In her retirement, Florence was active in the American Association of University Women, Petal & Stem Garden Club, R.O.S.E Embroidery Guild, the Wayne County Home Extension Club, the Richmond Rose Garden and the local AARP.
She is survived by her husband - Fred S. Talbot (to whom she was married 63 years)

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday (July 18, 2005) in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church (121 South 18th Street). Pastor Martin Gehring will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (July 18, 2005) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Treaty Line Council of Girl Scouts, 1800 South "L" Street, Richmond, IN 47374 or to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.
