Gary Allen Mathews, age 66, of Richmond, died Friday morning (March 18, 2011) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on April 14, 1944 to Paul and Rosemary Sittloh Mathews and had lived here all of his life. Gary was a 1962 graduate of Richmond High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired electrician and had worked for Cummins Electric. He was a life-long member of Saint Andrew Church and a 47 year member of IBEW. Gary enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife - Lana Clemens Mathews whom he married in 1964; children - Kelle (Joe) Welker of Plymouth, Indiana, Kari (Dave) Welker of Middlebury, Indiana, Gary (Tammy) Mathews of Richmond; siblings - Bob (Theresa) Mathews of Melbourne, Florida, Terry (Sue) Mathews of Richmond, Toddy Fox of San Antonio, Texas, Shari (Tom) Dodd of Auberndale, Florida; grandchildren - Angela & Pat Leary, Kristin Shook, Joey Welker, David, Zack & Jake Welker, Aaron, Nick & Adam Mathews; great grandchildren - Brianna, Cameron & Peyton Leary, nieces and nephews; special friends - Fred & Cheryl Abbott, Bonnie & Rudy Pittl, Ron & Lori Purcell. In addition to his parents, siblings Paul "Bud" Mathews, Ed Mathews, Rip Fox and parents-in-law - Vi and Ed Clemens are also deceased. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (March 21, 2011) in Saint Andrew Church. Father Todd Riebe will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (March 20, 2011) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
