Gene Vaughn, age 77, of Richmond, died Monday morning (January 14, 2008) at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule.� He was born in Richmond on October 29, 1930 to Horace "Higie" and Ruby Gibbs Vaughn and had lived here all of his life.� He was a 1949 graduate of Richmond High School and a retired tool and die maker for Alcoa where he had worked for Alcoa for 30 years.� He had taught machine shop at Ivy Tech and also worked with his son in the carpet cleaning business now known as ServiceMaster by Vaughn.� He served in the US Navy during the Korean War where he was assigned to the USS Delta auxiliary repair ship in the Pacific.� Gene was a member of Faith-Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and as a Sunday School teacher.� He was also a member of American Legion Post 65 and a former member of the Tri-state Traveliers.�Survivors include his wife of 55 years - Doris Vaughn;� sons - Gary (Melanie) Vaughn of Richmond and Greg (Kim) Vaughn of Centerville;� grandchildren - Joshua Vaughn serving with the US Air Force in Afghanistan; Chirstina Vaughn of Fargo, ND., Kaitlin Vaughn of Centerville and Jacob Vaughn of Richmond.�A son, Gaylen Vaughn, died in 1981.�A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday (January 20, 2008) in Faith-Trinity United Methodist Church (2900 West Main Street).� Rev. Judi Marshall will officiate.� The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.� Entombment will be in Earlham Mausoleum.� Memorial contributions may be made to Faith-Trinity United Methodist Church, 2900 W.
