George Edwin Driffill, age 88, of Richmond passed away peacefully on Sunday (July 20, 2014) at Heritage House of Richmond. He was born in New Paris, Ohio on February 27, 1926 to George William and Ellen Sara Jarrett Driffill. He graduated from Richmond High School then joined the US Navy where he served in WWII. He was a member of several lodges including VFW, Webb lodge #24, Eastern Star, York Rite and Richmond Lodge 196. He worked at Natco for 3 years and Alcoa for 40 years. He was married to Doris Jean Higgins until 1998 when she passed away after 51 years of marriage. Survivors include his children Max E (Linda) Driffill of Richmond and Connie Jean (Rich) Smith of Nolesville, TN; Grandchildren Max (Dr. Jessica Richmond) Driffill II of Sebec, Maine, Stephanie (Michael) Petrovich of Smyrna, TN, Katie (Brian Whalen) Browning of Fountain City, IN, Matt (Teddi Bare) Smith of Nashville, TN; Great Grandchildren Anya Driffill, Cullen Browning, Ashton Whalen, Mikey Petrovich, Riley Smith, Roz Stewart, Beckham Whalen, Myles Petrovich, Finn Driffill and Harper Whalen; Nephew Joe Driffill. In addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one brother. Services will be held on Thursday (July 24, 2014) at 11:00 A.M. in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Martin Holman will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Wednesday (July 23, 2014) from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
