Gerald J. "Jerry" Doerflein, age 75, of Richmond, died Monday afternoon (September 21, 2009) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Batesville, Indiana on August 30, 1934 to Robert and Teckla Kline Doerflein and had lived here most of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and a retired 40 year employee of Alcoa. Jerry had coached Optimist Baseball and had bowled in several local leagues. He and his wife were avid campers and greatly enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. His wife of 51 years, Delores Joan Doerflein, died on June 16, 2008. Survivors include his children - David (Jenny) Doerflein, Terri (Joe) Cox, Jeff (Becky) Doerflein, Kenny (Linda) Doerflein all of Richmond, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a special companion - "Jade". A brother, Donald Doerflein, is also deceased Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday (September 25, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Father Todd Riebe will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday (September 24, 2009) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
