Harold J. Brooks, age 87, formerly of Greens Fork, died Thursday afternoon (January 12, 2012) at Golden Living Center - Richmond. He was born in Wayne County on May 20, 1924 to Paul and Margaret Finch Brooks and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a graduate of Greens Fork High School and attended Earlham College and Indiana University East. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Harold was a retired farmer and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War and of the AmVets. Survivors include his children - Paula (Tom) Horstman of Greens Fork, Nancy Brooks of Harriman, Tennessee, Victor Brooks of Dusseldorf, Germany; grandchildren - Chad Semler, Justin Rich, Rachel Leonard; 13 great grandchildren. A daughter, Mary Jean Glasscock, a grandson, Jeremiah Glasscock, and a sister, Annabelle McFadden, are also deceased. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation.. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Greens Fork (South) Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department.
